Civil Engineer with a postgraduate course
in Structures at National University, Andrés Uriel Gallego
was Public Works Secretary in Antioquia during the period in which
President Alvaro Uribe was Governor of that department, between
1995 and 1998.
Gallego is also general manager and partner of an adviser firm
whose work consist of structural designs. He was Governor in charge
in 1995. For more than 25 years he has been working in the teaching
labor at different universities, such as National, Medellín
and Pontificia Bolivariana. He also has been professor for diverse
entities from de building sector.
Loyal to his origins -He was born in Antioquia province-, he
likes homemade food, likes horse riding and take long walks.
He defines himself as a stubborn but understanding person, tough
but generous, simple, fighter and austere, this last characteristic
is fundamental to work in the new government.
He is a studious man, who likes to delegate tasks but watch it.
He doesn't belong to any political party and has been always close
to President Uribe. He is considered as a typical man of Antioquia
province, joyful, the ninth son of thirteen siblings, who enjoys
every kind of music, specially Andean music.
