| NEVADOS NATURE PARK
In the central range of the Andes, to the south of the Department of Antioquia, lies the region known as “Viejo Caldas” , now forming part of three Departments, Caldas, Risaralda and Quindio.
This region is also known as the Antioquia Colonization Zone, because during the 19 th century whole families from Antioquia, exasperated with the civil war that had laid waste to their land, organized expeditions into the uncharted south to found new settlements.
The Nevados Nature Park is in the middle of the colonization zone with woodlands, high plateaus and perpetual snows in the central range; and around it spread one of ther richest and most productive parts of Colombia: the CoffeeBelt.
